Charity efforts net $107,000 to community

KENOSHA - Kenosha Christmas Charities Inc., funded mainly through a December gathering of community people called Goodfellows, contributed $106,700 to several area organizations.

Through the group's efforts, and its grassroots donation campaign that collected $16,932 last year, about 3,200 toys were distributed and more than 2,300 children were registered through the Winter Wraps (hats, coats and gloves) program.

Additional contributions are $30,000 to the Shalom Center's Thanksgiving food program, $30,000 to the Goodwill Industries Christmas food program and $20,000 to Women and Children's Horizons for Winter Wraps under the Holiday House umbrella in conjunction with the Kenosha County Department of Social Services and $2000 to the Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC).. Additionally, $42,000 (at retail value)in toys for disadvantaged children.
